What is GUIDE?
The GUIDE Program, introduced in 2023 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), focuses on comprehensive, coordinated dementia care and aims to achieve three goals:
Improve
quality of life for people with dementia
Reduce
strain on their unpaid caregivers
Enable
people with dementia to remain in their homes / communities
It will achieve these goals through Medicare payments to providers who have been accepted into the GUIDE program and follow the GUIDE requirements. These payments are paid on a monthly basis and are dependent on disease severity and the status of their family caregiver.
